SOC-EDU Assignment for next week Feb. 28

Reflect on your present learning interests, priorities, connections and goals.

Design your present personal learning network using Mindmeister. Produce a hard copy of your PLN and post it as well in your tumblr page. Explain your PLN. Here are some guide questions:

What are your learning priorities, interests and activities at present?

Are you able to use your present connections to support your learning engagements and activities? If yes, How? If not, why?

What are your present educational goals? Do you see your present goals affected or influenced by your PLN? In what way? Does your PLN support you in your desired learning goals?

SOC-EDU Announcement - for Feb 3

Form your group, discuss/confer and answer the following questions in relation to the Web 3.0 discussions.

a. Analyze the sociability characteristics of Facebook. What makes it social and participatory? Describe and give at least 5 examples. Do you perceive the social interactions in Facebook as evolving? What makes it evolving or what makes it not evolving?

b. The emerging technologies made its way to converge or co-exist with media --as a content like text or words, image/photo or audio; and as a medium like blog, livestream, Youtube, open document, Flickr and others. How do you see now technology and new media converging or co-existing making an impact to students' personal and academic lives? Is this constructive, distracting, liberating? Please explain.

c. As instructional designers, do you think there should be more emphasis on the employment of social learning models now in the higher education? If yes, how do you suggest going through it? What should be the strategies? If no, what is your alternative learning model? If you are to use the older models, explain how to go through it given a Web 3.0 environment and active social spaces surrounding our higher education students.

SOC-EDU Announcement - Attendance to the Science and Technology Congress 2012

Dear All,

Every year, our university holds the Science and Technology Congress as a venue to impart and diffuse the various research projects undertaken by the faculty and the students.

Everyone is enjoined to attend any 3 CS or Educ related sessions in the Science and Technology Congress 2012 to be held on Feb. 15 & 16.

Recommended sessions:

10.20-10.40 - The GLE Project: an attempt to understand learning from the views of the millennial learners
10.40-11.00 The DLSU 100 Schools Project: implementing an ID framework for HS teachware

Write a two-three paragraph reaction or reflection on the sessions you have attended. Discuss the main topic, it's relevance and weaknesses (if there are any) in our field and the society. Post them here as a reply in this blog on or before Feb. 21.

Please take this opportunity to immerse yourselves and learn about the researches done in our university.
